Tunisian abstract painter Taher Jaoui (b. 1978) creates wildly expressive canvases that mix abstraction, mathematics, and figuration. After earning degrees in engineering in 2005 and 2007, Jaoui pursued his passion for painting, drawing inspiration from graffiti, cartoons, and Abstract Expressionism. Since beginning his art career in 2013, his spontaneous yet thoughtful process has produced visually striking paintings and mixed media works. Blending his background in theater and analytic engineering, Jaoui draws on both rational and intuitive approaches in his dynamic abstract compositions. His art is a captivating dance between geometric abstraction and raw expressionist gestures. Jaoui's works are now held in private and public collections across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the United States.
