Cohle Gallery is thrilled to reopen its seasonal space on the Port of Mahon in Menorca for the 2025 summer season. To celebrate the gallery’s third year on the island, we are presenting a group exhibition that brings together the work of twenty contemporary artists from all around the world, entitled “Emergency Exit.”
Co-curated by artists Tania Marmolejo and Ekaterina Popova, the exhibition reimagines the gallery as a space of respite, where artworks encourage visitors to step away from the relentlessness of contemporary life to contemplate and reconnect with natural flows. Located on Mahón’s seafront promenade, the gallery’s minimalist architecture and shaded courtyard complement the exhibition’s meditative quality, connecting the artworks and Menorca’s tranquil coastal atmosphere.
With “Emergency Exit,” Cohle Gallery wishes to reclaim art’s role as a way of escape and reflection in a turbulent time, not as an avoidance but as an emotional and creative release. Through a variety of different mediums and techniques, the works gathered for the exhibition all embrace the vibrancy of the Balearic Islands’ unique paradisiacal rhythms. Ranging from figurative to abstract, they share a stimulating yet meditative quality, and propose a fascinating insight to the diverse work of twenty contemporary artists.
“Emergency Exit” is presented in collaboration with Create! Magazine, which has dedicated its Summer Issue to amplify the exhibition’s themes and voices. By highlighting the lineup of artists to its readers, we hope the magazine will expand the show’s message to a global audience. Copies of the magazine will be available during the duration of the exhibition.
Cohle Gallery’s team, along with the curators and artists, welcomes you to our space in Menorca, not to flee reality but to rediscover it through art’s transformative pause. “Emergency Exit” will be on view in Mahon from June 28.
